We’re switching gears for a minute… and coming back to Alpine Proper for a “cleanup on Aisle 7” – winter is coming fast and hard, and although the work isn’t as sexy as building new trail, our first priority has to be focused on making sure our primary system is working well, and will be ready for next season. In this spirit, we’ll be working solely on drainage issues and repairing areas that are causing water to stay on trail and further erode the system “downstream”. We’ll need all hands on deck to get as much done as we can before winter arrives. Following up on Disciple of Dirt’s drainage clinic on Saturday, this will be a great opportunity to put your new skills to work!
Please bring a pack with warm layers, GLOVES (bring extras if you have them), and water. It is going to be cold, and possibly wet – please wear synthetic or wool socks and water resistant/proof clothing. We also recommend leaving a set of dry clothes and shoes in your car for afterwards.
Extra tools, hand warmers, and hard hats will be provided.
We are planning on breaking into 3-4 crews as follows:
Crew #1 – We’ll have six folks start on bikes at the Tire Mountain intersection with Trail Boss tools (portable bike digging tools – provided by MTB community trail tool cache) and work down to the first 5828 crossing. Please contact atca3450@gmail.com if you would like to RSVP for the bike crew and reserve a Trail Boss tool, or let us know if you are bringing your own.
Crew #2 – Hike the lower 5828 crossing down trail, carry in digging tools.
Crew #3 – Hike up trail from Westfir-Tie.
We’ll be meeting at the Red Covered Bridge at 9AM and after the work party, across the street at TransCascadia for a hot meal and beverages!
Thanks for helping us keep summer FUN on the Alpine Trail Network!
