Visitor Information

Discover the inspiring beauty and endless recreation opportunities in our beautiful mountain community.

Located less than an hour from the Eugene-Springfield and the I-5 corridor, the area offers world-class mountain biking trails, hiking, water sports, fishing, festivals, and winter sports.

Oakridge, Oregon is the “Center of Oregon Recreation” and the “Mountain Biking Capital of the Northwest.” This former lumber community traded in its logging roads for mountain biking trails and OHV routes. Instead of welding axes, residents are equipped with binoculars and cameras for the spectacular wildlife and birding opportunities.

Escape into the lush beauty and varied landscape of the Cascade Mountains. Relax on a drive along the Aufderheide Scenic Byway. Walk through towering old growth forests and witness the magnificent Salt Creek Falls. Take to the singletrack trails on a mountain bike or hike to a summit view of Diamond Peak. Fish the clear running currents of the Middle and North Forks of the Willamette River or canoe the emerald waters of Hills Creek Reservoir. Ski or snowshoe Gold Lake or Willamette Pass. Visit the wonderful Willamette Fish Hatchery, complete with a museum and an educational mini-golf course that shows the life of the salmon as it moves from hatchling to spawning. For history buffs, Westfir has Oregon’s longest covered bridge and the Oakridge Museum showcases an outstanding collection of the region’s history. Best of all, talk with the locals who have stories to tell on everything from wildflowers to distilling spirits. Most afternoons, join them and fellow adventurers at the real ale public house in uptown Oakridge for exceptional craft beer.
